Litter Pick in association with Wakefield Council and local Neighbourhood Management Board - October 2018

In October our school Eco Council took part in a litter pick in the local area alongside council members and members of the local Neighbourhood Management Board. The children were shocked at the amount of rubbish thrown on the floor in their local area.

The children collected an amazing 140kgs worth of litter in 1 hour!

Check out photos of the litter pick below.

Autumn Term 2018 - Energy Focus

Switch Off Fortnight!

During November the Eco Council will lead the school during Switch Off Fortnight! This will help the school save energy by teaching children and adults to save energy by closing doors and windows and turning off electrical equipment when they are not in use.

The Eco Council will lead assemblies with the whole school, sharing the importance of energy saving. They will also carrying out 'spot checks' in classrooms to ensure we are following energy saving rules.

Spring Term 2019 - Recycling Focus

Eco Council 2017 - 2018 Activities

Trashion Show - 2017

Our Eco Council presented an assembly to the whole school on recycling. They also judged our school Trashion Show where all children came to school dressed in an outfit/accessory made from recycled materials. Take a look at our assembly and Trashion Show pics below!

Recycle Bins

Every classroom in school has been provided with a recycle bin. Everyone is encouraged to recycle waste paper and card into this bins. They are emptied each week and the waste paper is then collected by RENWI to be recycled. Our Eco Council were shocked with the amount of paper used each week in school and are working together to help reduce this amount.

Eco Workshops - RENEWI

In November our Eco Council along with children from each year group took part in eco workshops. These workshops were provided by RENEWI who manage waste and recycling services across Wakefield. The children had lots of fun becoming waste detectives and also learning how different materials can be recycled. Take a look at our photographs below!
