I am a retired University Lecturer who specialised in Education Management and Initial Teacher Training.  I have been a Primary and Secondary School Governor for 15 years and I still work as a voluntary maths teacher in two local primary schools.

Other voluntary roles have been with Age UK, RVS, MHA and Contact the Elderly.

I have been married for almost 50 years, with a son and two granddaughters. I have an active interest in motorsport and walking football, as well as being a lifelong Castleford Tigers supporter.

I believe that education is the key to a better world and that supporting our young people is an important way to “put something back” into our community and society.

I am proud to be part of a forward-thinking school, which has a committed and dynamic leadership and staff who strive to give pupils the best start in their education.

I am Castleford born and bred and have long standing ties with the school.  I have worked with children and young people for most of my life, both in schools and in voluntary youth organisations.

I believe Airedale Infant and Airedale Junior Academies provide a broad and rich curriculum evidenced by the vibrant environment in school and the successful outcomes of the children, who not only deserve the best start in life but also as many rich and varied opportunities as possible to prepare them for an enriched and fulfilling adulthood.

I have had the privilege of serving as a school governor for approximately 25 years, working closely alongside the school to support its vision and development. Throughout this time, I have been committed to strengthening the relationship between the school and the wider community, ensuring that every child has the opportunities and support needed to succeed.

My role has involved providing guidance, encouragement, and community support to help the school build a brighter future for its pupils. I have witnessed significant growth and positive change over the years, and I am proud to have contributed to initiatives that have enhanced educational opportunities and strengthened community engagement.

The school's dedication to nurturing children, promoting inclusion, and fostering a positive learning environment has always been at the heart of its success. Working together with staff, governors, parents, and community partners, we have helped create a supportive environment where children can thrive and reach their full potential.

As both a parent and a school administrator, I am passionate about supporting the school community and helping it thrive. My role as a governor is incredibly rewarding, allowing me to contribute at a variety of levels and support the school's ongoing development. I enjoy working alongside staff, leaders and fellow governors to ensure the best possible outcomes for all pupils, and I find the role both fulfilling and meaningful
